What's blue and smells like red paint?
Students learn basic color mixing and painting techniques in this comic themed artwork. This package includes over 130 comic book inspired reference illustrations as well as a lesson plan and a paint mixing guide for students. The graphics are provided in grid drawing format as well as coloring sheets in letter and 11x17" size.
In my classes, students choose one of the colorful images from the huge selection. The grid technique is used to reproduce it as a pencil drawing on a half-sheet of poster board (14x22"). They then paint the artwork with tempera paint. I provide the primary colors and students mix the rest.
You may prefer to adapt another medium to the project...Or print the coloring sheets and have students use any material you like to color the designs. Its also fun to have students replace the text in word bubbles with their own phrase or dialogue.
A great set of resources to use when learning about the color wheel, pop-art, color mixing, the printing process, line character, and onomatopoeias!
