Supplement your teacher toolbox for the Food Unit with these materials and activities.
In this bundle you get:
1 An original photograph of "Caldo de Pollo" taken in Cusco, Peru that you can use as a classroom poster and a conversation piece for class discussions on the cultural aspect of key foods consumed in Spanish-speaking countries.
2 A word search that lists 36 of the most popular foods in Spanish-speaking countries (Paella, Flan, Ceviche, Yuca, etc.) In addition to the word search activity itself, researching the foods can be assigned as homework or as a warm-up before your lesson.
3 There is also a worksheet activity where students categorize the foods from the "Comidas típicas" word search according to "sopas", "comidas con arroz o carne", and "frutas y postres". An additional activity on this worksheet asks students to choose and record 5 foods that they like and 5 that they dislike. For differentiation, I am including a second version of this worksheet with the instructions entirely in Spanish for your advanced students.
4 Lastly, there is a second word search with words used to describe foods. Most of the words are adjectives. (sabrosa, deliciosa, fresca, frito, etc.) In addition to the word search, students are also instructed to use information from the other two handouts / activities to write sentences about the foods.
I have also included two helpful and appropriate electronic resources for teachers who choose to have students complete these activities in class. I have also added some notes that I think will help you make best use of these materials.
