Comma Rules Layered Book

Make learning grammar and conventions more hands-on and interactive with this Comma Rules Layered Book.

This layered book concentrates on 5 important comma rules students need to know while writing.

1. Joining 2 sentence
2. Setting off extra information
3. After a long introduction
4. In a series
5. In dialogue

I have provided 2 options for you:

In option 1, simply print one set of layered book pages for each student. Have them cut off the bottom portion where indicated, put the pages in order, and staple at the top.

For option 2, print enough of each page of the separate comma rules so that each student has a copy of each rule. Glue them into a layered book you make using 3 sheets of paper.

I introduce one rule per day. We look at the rule, examine the sample sentence(s) given, and then students add their own example. I like to have them find an example in the books they are reading, but they can also write their own example.

I have my students glue this book into their Writer’s Notebook so they have it for future reference.
