Introduce your students to questions like ones they'll see on their state writing tests while focusing on a specific revising or editing skill! These skill-specific revising and editing passages give students the opportunity to practice correcting specific errors in a piece of writing.
In this download, students will read a short passage and search for errors related to using commas when writing cities and states. There are three different versions to differentiate for your desired level of rigor:
The first is a test-prep version that requires students to answer multiple-choice questions much like ones they would see on the STAAR or other state tests.
The second version requires students to find the sentences with the specific error and write the sentences correctly.
The third version gives the students the sentences that are incorrect and requires students to write the sentences correctly.
This activity is great for a warm-up, review, or as a quick-check to assess how well students understand how to correctly use commas when writing cities and states in a sentence.
