5th Grade Geometry 4 - Classifying Solids teaches students 8 different types of polyhedron prisms and their characteristics: triangular prism, cube, rectangular prism, pentagonal prism, pentagonal prism, hexagonal prism, octagonal prism and decagonal prism. Next the lesson teaches students 4 different types of polyhedron pyramids and their characteristics: triangular pyramid, square pyramid, rectangular pyramid, and pentagonal pyramid. Then the lesson teaches students 3 different non-polyhedrons and their characteristics: sphere, cone, and cylinder. There is a title slide, focus slide, objectives, essential question, vocabulary, vocabulary check, concept development, guided practice, checking for understanding, problem solving with a word problem, and a reward slide at the end. For best results, students should have white boards and dry erase markers.
