. It features 6 fun activities to make an otherwise dull topic pretty fun!
So, you have started teaching using the new Common Core, but how do you know if your students are succeeding? By using these quizzes ("formative assessments" in the proper pedagological babble), you can make sure that no one is falling through the cracks.
At the top of each quiz, you will find the Common Core standard, written in kid friendly "I can" language.
Each quiz is five questions, with most quizzes featuring the following format:
2 basic skill questions
2 problem solving questions
1 multiple choice question
With each quiz, you will also find a key, that uses bold, red font for easy display. Each quiz also features a scoring box, where students record their progress. I recommend having students grade their own quizzes, or having them trade papers. Then, all you have to do is record their scores, taking note of anyone who needs remediation.
These quizzes were created with Houghton Mifflin's Go Math! series in mind, but since I have titled the quizzes using the topic, rather than just the chapter and section titles, any sixth grade math teacher can use them.
Written in MS Word format, these 10 quizzes are fully editable.
This quiz pack features the following topics:
-Understanding positive and negative numbers
-Compare and order integers
-Rational numbers and the number line
-Compare and order rational numbers
-Compare absolute values
-Rational numbers and the coordinate plane
-Ordered pair relationships
-Distance on the coordinate plane
