Sixth Grade Prime Factorization and Greatest Common Factor teaches students how to find the prime factorization of a number using a factor tree. The lesson also shows students how to use the results of prime factorization to find the Greatest Common Factor between two numbers. There is a title slide, focus slide, objective, essential question, vocabulary, concept development, demonstration on how to find the prime factors of a number and how to use those to find the GCF, guided practice, checking for understanding, problem solving with word problem, and a reward slide at the end. For best results, students should have white boards and dry erase markers.
