Have students practice identifying key words and adding and subtracting 3 to 4-digit numbers. There are 12 word problem cards students have to read, then decide to add or subtract and finally solve. Then they input their answers into a crossword puzzle for the teacher to check. It will be easy for them to realize they chose the wrong operation anytime their answer doesn't fit into the crossword puzzle and will have to go back and edit their work.
