Introducing Busted, the speaking and listening skills game for teens.
Help students to refine speaking and listening skills in small groups with critical thinking questions.
The complete game has 152 cards for 8 teams and can be played in small groups of 2 or more players.
It’s perfect for encouraging students to speak confidently with focus and support while challenging students to listen actively and critically.
Questions are aimed to give students practice in describing, solving problems, self-reflecting, visualizing from another’s perspective, taking a stand, and evaluating.
Great for getting to know you days, brain breaks, or activating strategies with teacher-selected playing cards (i.e. parenting questions before a study of Romeo and Juliet).
How do you play the game?
The complete classroom set includes 8 direction cards and 152 playing cards.
Determine the size of your groups: 2-8 works well depending on the time.
Normally, I divide cards into 8 decks of 19 cards.
Students shuffle cards and select a player to go first.
The player must talk for 30 seconds on the clock without any interjections, or fillers, like um, er, ugh, and more.
If another player hears an interjection, he or she shouts “BUSTED!”
Play then moves to the next player and round the table until one player is left.
Cards can be reshuffled again and again with players drawing a new card if a he or she already answered a question.
Winners can play with other winners for a class winner, or one round or one student can be played as a quick ice-breaker or brain break in the class.
Great for substitute teacher emergency lesson plans or quick writes in the classroom as well!
