This product was created for myself and other teachers who enjoy creating anchor charts with their class, but want to focus less time on making it "cute" and more on instruction. On the other hand, you do have to look at the anchor chart sometimes for weeks or months at a time so it is important that it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye for you and visually enticing for your students.
It is also for teachers who want to document the Common Core State Standards for easy review throughout the year. It can also serve as a visual checklist of ensuring that you are teaching all the standards and your students have something to anchor their learning with. This is also great if you want to impress your administrators during classroom walkthroughs.
These particular standards were designed for grade 4, but are still a great resource for anyone teaching the contents below:
Total of 12 anchor chart sets including:
RL 3- Describing a Character (2 anchor chart sets)
RL 4-Words that allude to Greek Mythology
RL 5-Prose and Poetry (2 anchor chart sets)
RL 6-Point of View
RL 7-Making connections between the text and a visual presentation of the text (i.e. movie)
RL 9- Compare and contrast the treatment of similar themes and topics (e.g., opposition of good and evil) and patterns of events (e.g., the quest) in stories, myths, and traditional literature from different cultures." (2 anchor chart sets)
RL 10- Reading is Thinking anchor chart set
Set up the basic titles, borders, and clip art for the anchor chart prior to class. WITH your class add the content.
You will notice that I use a lot of interactive elements such as sticky notes and index cards to be able to have students contribute to the anchor charts throughout the year.
