Ten and some more!
Are your kids struggling with those TERRIBLE TEENS?? This set of activities help your students practice building teen numbers!
K.NBT.1 expects students to understand how to make a teen number. However, it doesn't expect kids to understand the standard place value concepts of tens and ones. These activities help kids to internalize that a teen number is a group of ten, and then some more! These activities are based on Math Recovery, AVMR and Singapore Math strategies.
This set contains 3 similar games, which are differentiated for students at different developmental levels of the K.NBT.1 standard.
game direction work mat (for teacher/group leader)
3 work mats (you will want to make several copies of these)
3 sets of teen playing cards
2 different spinners
3 record sheets, one for each center.
***I used cute little flowers from the dollar store as counters to make the activity feel like "Springtime". You can use any kind of counters you have available.
I hope your students enjoy these practice activities. (Pictures shown are from one of the 3 activities).
