Looking for an activity to complete after your students have watched the movie version of a short story or novel? These sheets provide two possible activities to analyze the directors and actors choices in differences in the movie.
It will help students go beyond just noticing the differences. They have to look at the differences and analyze if the movie gained or lost something over the written text.
This activity is designed to meet the common core standard for RL 8.6. However, it is possible it could be modified to meet the similar standard at other grades.
This PDF includes two possible activities. One breaks the questions down into more steps. I've also included a blank Venn diagram, which I sometimes have students fill out when we watch the movie production of a short story. If the piece is longer, or there are many differences, I just have them keep a list of the differences they notice.
This activity could be used with any text and movie. I've used it personally with both short stories and novels.
