Students use math strategies to insert note values into a 4 X 4 grid to create four 4 beat measures. Students add words that fit the rhythm chosen, and utilize rhyming. Students choose pitches by using instruments and choosing from C,D,E,F,G,, or G,A,B,C,D. Students then transfer all information to staff paper to create their own composition. Students learn about A B A form and rhythmic patterns. They may also add dynamics, tempo markings and phrase markings.
