These two worksheets will help your students practice academic vocabulary such as Genre, Main Idea, Fact, and Fiction. It will also help them distinguish between Fact and Fiction, understand how to find the Main Idea and Plot of a story, as well as use Time Order Words. When rewriting the parts of the worksheets in complete sentences, these worksheets will help students write summaries of the stories they've read.
My students enjoyed completing these worksheets in small groups after reading their stories. They then discussed their answers, making any changes they felt were needed, and rewrote their answers in complete sentences in their notebooks.
I had my students put both worksheets, back to back, in plastic write-wipe pockets. This saved paper, allowed them to choose the worksheet they felt was best for the type of story they read, and allowed them to easily make corrections before rewriting their answers in their notebooks.
Before assigning, I demonstrated and guided students through each worksheet, one at a time, whole class, on the ELMO for a week or so.
Thank you for your purchase. Feedback and ratings are greatly appreciated.
