Challenge: In North Carolina our students will be faced with a new "Common Core" standardized exam at the end of the year. This exam will now consist of short answer and constructed response entries.
Advanced students have a difficult time condensing their thoughts.
Students who are "below grade-level" have a difficult time gathering information to write due to lack of experiences. Students who are "grade-level proficient" often benefit from some kind of example to follow.
This plan includes a step-by-step rubric students may follow to guide them through the constructed response process. After using this rubric a few times, the process will be embedded into their writing just in time for the official exam.
