It's fun to learn about polar bears and encourage students to feel more comfortable reading informational text.
This is a unit modeled after my regular Common Core ELA Expository Topic Sentences writing unit. I expanded this unit for my ESE class to learn about polar bears and review basic skills such as beginning sounds and sorting.
These expository writing and science materials are ideal for students reading below grade level. Expose kids to appropriate science activities while giving them something to complete on their own as beginning readers.
