Common Core Geometry Early Dilations Practice Properties & Definition (G.SRT.1)
This document contains 13 pages of work to help students become familiar with the idea of dilations. Included are anticipatory sets, discovery activities, a few basic notes, closure activities (exit slips), and many practice problems. These all relate to the basic idea of dilations, their transformation properties, the formal definition of dilation, and the most basic coordinate rule of dilation centered at the origin. Any section of this document can be used as a cooperative learning activity as well. The problems can be used as anticipatory sets, guided practice, independent practice, exit slips, homework, quiz, or test problems; however I will probably upload a document in the future of solely test/assessment problems. The problems and activities are designed to assist students in achieving G.SRT.1, as well as the mathematics practice standards. They are also designed to help the teacher assess the students’ abilities when it comes to working with dilations.
About my Products:
While the PARCC assesses many of the mathematical practice standards, I aim to create many problems and activities that require students to apply the skills outlined in the performance level descriptors. I believe that the more students are exposed to such types of work, the more likely they are to develop a conceptual understanding of the concepts & of their own learning, succeed on the PARCC, and hence the more likely they are to be prepared for success in college and/or their future careers. If you happen to have any questions or concerns regarding anything your purchase (or download for free), please do not hesitate to contact me! Have a wonderful school year! :)
