These graphic organizers allow you to see your students thinking. I use them as I model and record my thinking. Then, I have the students use it during our mini-lessons for guided practice. Once students have demonstrated the ability to use the graphic organizer, I assess them using it. Later, I add it to their reading journals so they can show their thinking during independent reading time. If a student struggles with a standard, I pull the graphic organizers and use them in small group time as well. Consistency is the key!
