This is a two-page worksheet to assist history teachers with aligning their instruction to the common core. It works for guiding students in the analysis of primary documents of a visual nature: Things like photographs, political cartoons, and paintings.
Students will run through a few easy steps that will enable them to pull the important elements out of the primary documents and give a meaningful analysis. The resulting product requires a lot of thought on the part of the student, but it remains easy to grade for the teacher.
The guide works as a decent way to analyze primary images, whether or not you need a guide aligned with the common core.
I designed the guide to be accessible for students of all ranges, from struggling to gifted.
