A ten-question multiple choice formative or summative assessment for use in a 9th or 10th grade English classroom. The assessment contains a short information text about the Irish potato famine as well as a poem about the same subject.
It covers the following standards:
RI.9-10.4 – Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text.
RL.9-10.6 – Analyze a particular point of view or cultural experience reflected in a work of literature from outside the United States.
RI.9-10.6 Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how an author uses rhetoric to advance that point of view or purpose.
RL.9-10.3 – Analyze how complex characters develop over the course of a text.
