Have you ever felt overwhelmed when grading an enormous amount of writing? I have. My weekends became consumed with grading essays. I had to come up with a plan to get my weekends back. That’s when I decided to create checklists for students. Checklists not only help students to stay focused and organized, but they also save us time.
Do you have students that are not motivated to write? Well, this checklist is a guide for those struggling writers too. It helps students take steps towards the final product.
I have included a day-to-day plan of instruction. However, I did not fill the pages with detailed lesson plans. This plan explains how I used the checklist as well as a description of mini lessons I taught.
This plan was also created to meet the 6th grade Common Core State Standards, but can be adapted to any grade.
