This product was created to address Common Core Language Standard L.4.5b: Recognize and explain the meaning of common idioms, adages, and proverbs.
This printable was designed for an audience between grades 5-8 and will work best with that age group. This is an exercise on sayings using twenty very powerful and cool proverbs that teach valuable life lessons. It can be completed with a great deal of teacher involvement using the provided discussion questions, OR it can stand alone as a worksheet or homework on the topic.
Students learn the proverbs using the provided definitions and choose the best proverb for a set of context sentences. Extension activity ideas are included at the end if you choose to go beyond the format of the worksheet.
