UNIT 3: Kindergarten Phonics & Word Recognition: Flashcards--Rhyming Words is the third unit from a series of five Language Arts Units which is Common Core Aligned and focuses on the common core area of phonological awareness as well as word recognition. This Unit will have your students practicing the recognition of CVC words which follow these rhyming patterns: -ap, -at, -ad, -ag, -am, -an, -et, -ip, -og, -un.
In this Third Unit, there will be a total of forty CVC Rhyming Words which practice the use of these ten different rhyming patterns: _ap, _at, _ad, _ag, _am, _an, _et, _ip, _og, _un.
Your students will continue identifying and recognizing words that rhyme. They will be presented with four CVC words as well as with their matching pictures on each page. These four words will have the same _VC pattern; and therefore will reinforce words that rhyme.
Just copy and laminate the following pages, cut these out along the black lines, punch a hole in the upper left hand corner of each flashcard, and attach these with a metal ring. All forty words can either be attached as one set OR you may choose to attach each set according to their rhyming –VC pattern.
Each student will then receive a set of these Rhyming Words Flashcards in order to continue identifying and recognizing these words that have been used with our Farm Mats in the Kindergarten Phonics Units 1 and 2.
Students can then write out the four WORDS THAT RHYME onto their farm mat. Students should each receive ten Farm Mats in order to complete the ten rhyming patterns that are given in this particular Phonics Unit. Students will then illustrate with the provided cut-outs of the farm characters or they can draw farm illustrations of their own! Their choice!!
