Dear Math Friends,
Need some help with systematically incorporating the CCSS Math Practices in your classroom?
The "Excellent Listeners" FlipCards serve as a convenient reminder of possible questions to pose to lead students to generate ideas about what behaviors result in excellent listening, an important component of CCSS Math Practice # 3 (Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others).
Thoughtful questioning by the teacher is crucial to guiding students to produce meaningful answers. Questions are provided that you can use to encourage students to come up with appropriate ideas that can be listed on an anchor chart titled “Excellent Listeners.” A sample “Excellent Listeners” anchor chart is included, as is a copy of the 8 Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practice.
The FlipCards are designed to copy onto cardstock, bind with a ring, and keep in the area where class discussions occur. They could also be stored in a 3-ring binder.
More CCSS Math Practice Anchor Chart Discussion Guides and the corresponding Step-by-Step Guides to Implementing Math Practices Through Problem Solving and FlipCards are coming soon!
Hope this blesses your math teaching! Thanks for your support!
