The Common Core Standards in Math for the Third Grade include a standard surrounding the Unit Fraction. But what is a Unit Fraction?
The idea of the Unit Fraction has not been explored in any depth by most published math programs, but the CC is pointing out that it is an essential foundation for understanding fractions. Its importance is not immediately evident, but becomes apparent when operations on fractions are needed. Being able to multiply and divide fractions easily and with deep understanding rests on the concept of the unit fraction.
This product provides teachers with a way to introduce and practice this important concept with children. It employs our hallmark cartoon examples of teaching interactions as demonstrations, along with guided and independent practice worksheets.
