Common Core {Math Word Wall} for 3rd Grade

Literacy Word Walls are posted in practically every classroom. Math Word Walls are just as important to post for the following reasons:
1) Students identify words and phrases necessary to understand in order to make good progress in mathematics.
2) Teaching the language of math is critical to the development of students’ thinking and to teaching math concepts and procedures.
3) The word cards build students’ math vocabulary so that they talk about math and understand the meaning behind the words, concepts and skills rather than just taking notes and not understanding what they are writing.
4) Math word walls support reading and language arts.

The Math Word Wall cards included are based on the Common Core Standards. There are three card options for each vocabulary word: 1) vocabulary word only, 2) vocabulary word with graphic, and 3) vocabulary word with definition. Feel free to use whichever one works best for your classroom.
