With this activity students will each recieve an idex card and a bag of sugar cubes, they will construct their own rectangluar prism and write how many cubes they used on the bottom of the index card and put the constructed rectangular prism on top of the card. They will then rotate around the room with pages 1 and 2 to use whichever method they would like to use to find the volume of each, (only two minutes for each) This is a common core 5th grade mathematics! Practice whole rectangular prisms as well as ones with missing cubes! Kids love it and it is a good out of the seat practice for students with a 3rd page that is intended to be used as a review assessments.
