1st Grade Common Core Math Standards:
1.MD.1- Order three objects by length; compare the lengths of two objects indirectly by using a third object.
1.MD.2- Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
These detailed, daily lessons can be used as a whole group mini-lesson or as small group lessons. They work well for math workshop or guided math. Each lesson is differentiated to include an enrichment idea/activity and common mistakes that students make and ideas of how to address them. There is also an informal assessment for students to complete so that you can assess students daily and have a clear idea of which students need more practice with specific concepts. These lessons were designed for first grade, but can also be used as enrichment for Kindergarten or review for second grade.
