There are 7 word problems within this packet. 5 of the questions lead one day after another and are of a family's camping trip. The other 2 are dealing with children buying pumpkins during fall break and what they do with the seeds.
There are answers for each problem and blank pages for the students to work along with you.
There is a page of pumpkins for the students to cut out and use as manipulatives to help solve the second pumpkin problem.
I love to teach these word problems by helping the students really break down what the important information is and having lots of math talking conversations about why some students think a piece is important and why others think it may not be important. By having the students lead the math conversations, helps them to digest the numbers easier and to gain knowledge of the skills being taught. I also try to use as many standards as I can in a lesson when it makes sense. This helps keep skills taught, or reviewed at the beginning of the year fresh in the student's minds.
