In this second chapter of this high school serial, the common core objectives addressed are vocabulary in context, elements of fiction, making inferences and drawing conclusions. Student will complete pre-reading, during reading and after reading activities. They will use a interactive reader to identify plot elements. Students will also use context clues to identify new vocabulary words. Finally, students will use and quote text evidence to make inference and draw conclusion about this ongoing narrative. There are three additional activities focusing on inferences. This serial is content optimized to be of high interest to students in urban and multi-cultural school environments, especially in schools with high concentration of Hispanic and African American students.
