Are your students struggling with the amount of letter-sounds or phonics patterns that they need to keep in rotation? This product is designed for them! My students needed practice to develop fluency at the phoneme-grapheme level. They also needed guided practice with smooth blending before moving into a connected text.
Each page is designed to be used over the course of a week as a review of past skills and to facilitate new learning. Each child will need his/her own copy for the week. The teacher can takes anecdotal notes on an extra copy for formative assessment.
This product is aligned with Common Core Reading Foundations Standard 3 for 1st grade. The individual lessons are aligned with Harcourt Storytown’s ® phonics progression as a warm up before small group reading of the Get Started Story, decodable text, or at the beginning of Tier II instruction. However, this Foundations Review can be used in isolation without those particular decodables if you need to work on specific skills in isolation.
I'd love to hear how this works for you in your classroom. Happy Reading!
