Need to "get more aligned" to assessing at the rigor of the Common Core State Standards? Trying to determine what is below, at, or above grade level? Use these rubrics in 7th and 8th grade (Middle School) as a Common Core State Standard (CCSS) aligned rubric for the Argumentative Writing standard (W.7.1 and W.8.1) that uses the progression in the standards as benchmarks/descriptors on a scale from 1 (below grade level) to 4 (above grade level).
This packet includes a rubric for 7th grade ELA, 8th grade ELA, and for 6-8th Literacy for an all-inclusive start to aligning assessment across the curriculum with regards to argumentative writing.
For most classrooms, the "3" rank can be used as an "A" grade because it is "at grade level". For GATE or advanced students (or higher rigor), the "4" rank can be used as an "A" grade and indicates "above grade level". Use as you see fit!
