Children will practice phoneme isolation in this activity. It is perfect for individual children, literacy stations or small groups. Print off multiple copies for your whole class. It is appropriate for Kindergarten, 1st grade and RTI.This activity is linked to the Common Core Standards: Reading Foundational Skills.
Materials you will need:
Teddy bear counters
Phoneme picture cards
Sound Push card
Print and cut out picture and sound push cards. Print on cardstock and laminate for more durability. Put a teddy bear on each line. Have child choose a card and identify the picture then move teddy bear into a box for each phoneme heard. So for example if the child chooses a picture of a cat he/she would need to push a bear into the first box for “c”, the next box for “a” and the 3rd box for “t”.
