Welcome to “Writing Practice to Mastery!” Since you can use this packet over and over again for different opinion writing topics, it is truly “A Year’s Worth of Opinion Writing Practice!”I can write an opinion piece in which I:
--introduce the topic or book I am writing about,
--state my opinion within an organized structure,
--supply reasons to support my opinion,
--use linking words and phrases to connect my opinion and reasons,
--and provide a concluding statement or section.
No extra resources needed!
“Writing Practice to Mastery!” can be used with individual students or with a small group of students working as a team to produce an opinion paper that meets all of the requirements of Common Core W.3.1. It also allows for research to support the opinion and
includes a Opinion Writing Scoring Guide that includes
student self-scoring, peer scoring and teacher scoring.
Students reflect on their scores and then make a plan
for improvement on the next Opinion Writing assignment.
All of these features, used with the following plan, allow
