PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This four part assignment requires students to read and understand a series of articles and to view the film "Gattaca" starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Jude Law in order to gain a better understanding of the role of biotechnology in the past, present and future.

In addition to developing scientific literacy, language arts skills and critical thinking are called into action.

The assignment deals with the eugenics movement from the early 20th century, the issue of genetically modified organisms (GMO foods) today, the re-engineering of the woolly mammoth and the possible future of genetically "perfect" humans.
