PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This writing prompt/Task is based on a story called Ten Mile Day. This story explains the major events that lead up to the building of the Tanscontinental Railroad.

After students read the story, they are presented with the following prompt:

At the end of the day, Central Pacific had indeed laid more than 10 miles of track. That meant that Union Pacific’s record had been destroyed and Central Pacific had won the competition. Some wondered how the railroad crews managed to lay ten miles of track in one day.

In your opinion, how did the crew of Central Pacific manage to lay the ten miles of track in one day? Write an essay in which you share your opinion with your class Debate Team. Be sure to provide reasons that support your opinion and examples from the story,

This prompt also includes a brainstorming page, two rough draft pages, and two final draft pages.
