These activity pages beneficial in teaching and
mastering the factoring and finding the greatest common factors of two numbers.
This activity page involves the following:
•finding the factors of numbers using the divisibility rules attached
•cutting and pasting the factors out that go with each number in the correct candy bag
•using the page you factored each number, find the Greatest Common Factors of two
Your students can color the candy and candy bags if you or they like.
I have my students cut out the divisibility rules and paste in their notebooks. I put a side-by-side copy so that you can save your teacher copies.
This is meant to be used over two days.
Day 1: I check for understanding by my students using and finding the factors by asking themselves divisibility rules. For example, is the number even? If so, 2 has to be a factor of the number. They factor each candy bag number on page 1 and using this information to fill the candy bags.
Day 2: Using the factoring page and/or candy bag page, they will find the greatest common factor the two numbers have and answer by writing the number in the blank.
