This is a 2-in-1 game to help students (1st-4th grade) identify and differentiate between common and proper nouns. The "Go Fish" styled game is what it sounds like: a game of "Go Fish" where students have a hand of common and proper nouns and they go fishing for a matching common or proper noun (e.g. the student may have "boy", so they would fish for a name that would be of a boy, such as "Shawn").
Using the same cards, students can play a second game where they have to play a memory-based game where they must turn over cards and look for the appropriate corresponding common or proper noun.
Both games include directions and an answer page for them to check their accuracy. These games can be made simpler by using fewer cards.
This is a perfect activity for a center in the classroom. Your students will appreciate how you made learning common and proper nouns fun!
