Common and Proper Noun Word Sort - Penguin Content!

Common and Proper Noun Word Sort - Penguins! contains 24 penguin related common and proper nouns to sort. Also included is an answer key and a worksheet that can be used after completing the activity. To help you differentiate the activity for your needs, I included two types of sorting mats (two that describe what a common noun and a proper noun are and two that are just labeled common noun and proper noun) and two types of worksheets (one with dotted lines for 8 answers and one with space for all 24 answers and no dotted lines).

This activity would be great for RtI, a literacy center, or a whole class lesson (sort the words as a class and then have students complete the worksheet individually). You could even use the penguin word cards for alphabetical order practice!

*Newly added by request: a set of the proper noun cards without capital letters are now included. This will challenge students who rely on the capital letter as a visual clue to identify proper nouns. Choose the set of proper noun cards that best match the needs of your students.
