This mini-unit has what you need to get started with common and proper nouns. There is a 15 page slide show where students start out identifying common and proper nouns using capitalization clues. Then there are slides where they have to identify common and proper nouns without the capitalization clues.
Follow the slide show with a whole group activity where students each get a card and decide if the word is common or proper. There are no capitalization clues on the cards.
There is an anchor chart for students to put in a reading notebook to use as a reminder. The anchor chart is black ink only so this will make it economical.
I have also included 5 worksheets to get students independently involved in using common and proper nouns.
