English—no one ever says it’s easy! That we actually have a huge list of commonly confused words that trip up both native-speakers and those whose first language isn’t English says a lot about our language.

Whether you’ve got high school students prepping for university entrance exams or ESL adults trying to get that score that proves their English is “good enough” for university admittance, you probably spend some time addressing some of those commonly confused words.

These 48 task cards are the perfect supplement to your lesson! Each task card tackles a set of commonly confused words with sentence clozes. Most have embedded context clues, and some have grammar clues. Check your students’ comprehension of the following commonly confused words with these task cards. (Answer sheet, answer key, teacher’s page, word list for students included.)

Update: 8/2/2021. (added a word list for students)

UPDATE: 10/14/2021 I made an EASEL version of this that has one card per page, is in color, and is a drag & drop. (no typing)

UPDATE: 7/25/2022: I added another EASEL activity, but this one is self-checking! Woo-hoo~! More you time for you!
