Great for parents!
One of the most important things to a child is playing with their favorite toys. One of the most frustrating things a child goes through is when they can't tell you which one they want. Use this visual communication board to help your students ask for different toys and activities. It is set up so that they can use either a single word or a short phrase, depending on their communication level. The first board includes pictures of more common toys and activities. The second board is completely blank if you wish to fully personalize it.
When I first use communication boards, I point to each picture as I say the word, as a model. For students who are working on developing sentence length, I have them imitate me. For students who are non-verbal, I teach them to point to each picture, and as they point I say the word for them.
The size of the board is created so that you can place it into a 3-ring binder - just laminate and poke holes and you're ready to go!
If you find this board useful for your students, browse through my other communication boards, as they are all part of a series!
