This is a fun way for students who use aac or have limited language skills to practice making symbol sentences without the pressure of needing to “get it right.”
There are no specific questions, no specific referenced stimuli. The only requirement is to get the correct type of word, and get it in the correct order. The sentences need not make sense. You can, if this works with your students, talk about whether the sentences are silly or could be “real.”
There are 6 pages on which to make sentences, giving more than 1 student an opportunity to work at the same time. There are 7 pages of pictures, offering a few extra to share around. There are then duplicate pages of pictures without the colored borders; eliminating the cues so that students don’t rely on those.
This is fun and adds practice in isolation; don’t forget to generalize and use sentences in context as well!
