We all know getting youth to follow rules is difficult. Just stating them is not going to help make them stick for the whole year.
You can get youth to meaningfully engage with the community agreements with THIS resource. This provides two insightful and mind-opening 10-minute activities you can facilitate with students. This will help them deepen their understanding and critically think about why rules are important.
Creating a positive classroom community begins with COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS or classroom guidelines. The acrostic RESPECT spells out very important social skills youth will need in order to excel individually and collectively. Expand on the guidelines in a brief discussion, reading through each one (you can expand on them as appropriate for your context) and create excitement for youth to be on board about the importance of community agreements.
INCLUDED: two NEW ways to deliver the Community Agreements as activities through participatory and adult education methods that are about 10 minutes in length.
Participatory activities help youth engage better, think critically, work with and develop a deeper understanding so that they can embody the guidelines both in and beyond the classroom.
Note: if you would like a tailored 'Community Agreements' I can alter the documents for you at a price.
