"Project Adventure” Adapted: Connecting the Curriculum to Community Building Skills and Movement Activities
“Project Adventure” is a curriculum that is designed for physical education and health classes in order to foster team building skills and a sense of community among students. In today’s educational world, high stakes testing have become the norm and the focus for the everyday teacher’s lesson plans. The importance of teamwork and creating a caring community within in the classroom has lessened slightly. Through an inquiry-to-action project for our education Ethics course, we decided to take the key concepts found in the “Project Adventure” curriculum and adapt them for elementary school age students. In this packet you will find a wide range of lesson plans spanning the disciplines: Mathematics, Social Studies, Language Arts, Science, and Health and Physical Education. Feel free to explore our ideas and adopt them as your own! Happy Lesson Planning!
