Learning about Community Helpers is a staple unit among educators of young children. This packet is designed to help make this unit easy for teachers and fun for young learners.
The packet contains books for Emergent Readers and Writers, pattern work, word work, counting, skip-counting, number work, missing letters, and sentence building and writing.
There are 11 books included for students to work on as small group or independent center work. Five of the books are ideal for students to use as "BAG BOOK" readers that are great to carry between home and school. These books my "EZ-2 ASSEMBLE BOOKS" which are designed and formatted to print ready to fold and staple. There is no need to spend time shuffling and rearranging papers to make the student books. Simply copy, fold and staple. (Instructions included) It's a GREAT time saver! Easy enough to pass along to volunteers to assemble with ease.
There is also a word bank poster included to help scaffold writers and they fill in blank books or write sentences.
Word Work activities include: syllables, Write-the-Walls, stamping, and sentence building.
Math activities include: patterning, more/less using the signs, Ten Frame/Place Value work, counting by 1's, 2's and 5's.
