This is a comprehensive pack that includes five activities that will help children learn to recognize, develop, and appreciate members of the community and the important roles that they play. Purchasing each product individually would cost $12, buy the bundle for $10! The activities included in this pack are aligned with a number of Early Learning and Development Standards. This bundle includes the following products:
Community Helper Number and Association Cards
: This set contains two sets of cards – the first set contains the numbers 1-10, and a number strip so that children can figure out the number that is on their card (either by counting the community helpers or by recognizing the number), and circle it on their numbers strip. The second set of cards has two different kinds of cards. Half of the cards have a picture of a community helper, along with their job title. The other half of the cards have pictures of items that are associated with each of the included occupations. Children can look at the object cards and determine which community helper card to match it with.
Community Helper Class Books
: This set includes pages for children to fill out when exploring what they want to be when they grow up, and why different community helpers are important. Use these pages to make unique student or class books during your study of community helpers. You decide if you want each child to create their own book, or if you want to assign one occupation to each of your students to create a class book. If you choose to create a class book you can print off enough copies of the “when I grow up” page to include one for each student.
Community Helper Vocabulary Cards
: Use these vocabulary cards to introduce your students to new words. These are perfect for writing centers and activities. This set includes the words chef, garbage collector, crossing guard, police officer, fire fighter, teacher, veterinarian, farmer, nurse, doctor, construction worker, and mail carrier. This set also includes a set of cards that has pictures and spaces for children to practice spelling the vocabulary words with letter tiles. You could also use the second set to have each child write in the words themselves to create their own vocabulary card set.
Community Helper Mini-Books
: This occupation booklet is a great way to see what your students already know about occupations, or to evaluate what they learned during your occupation unit. The pages in the booklet ask children to answer two kinds of questions; What does this professional do, and what supplies do they need to complete their job?
Community Helper Matching Set
: Community Helpers are a staple in preschool social studies curriculum. This set contains two different matching games. The first game can be played similar to classic “memory” or by having students simply match the cards.
The second game includes a “mat” with a picture and the name of the occupation, and a second, similar card has a dotted line so that you can cut of the name of the occupation. Then students have to match both the picture and the words to the mat. Both of these games include pictures and words, encouraging children to connect the words with their meanings and build their vocabulary skills.
Each game includes the following Community Helpers; Teachers, Veterinarian, Doctor, Nurse, Fire Fighter, Police Officer, Garbage Collector, Construction Worker, Chef, Farmer, and Crossing Guard.
