Community Helpers: Research Project and Milk Carton Community
This packet includes informational reading about some community helpers, including the details of their jobs, why they are important and who they help in the community.Students can use these passages and the provided forms to guide a research project on the communityhelper that interests them.
A blueprint page is also provided for students to create their own building for their chosen community helper out of a milk carton. (Ask the school cafeteria to save them for a week or so and you will have more than enough for your class!) They can plan what their “building” will look like on the blueprint page, then glue construction paper to their milk carton to make it look like their blue print.
Buildings can be displayed as a class community along with their research papers.
