Looking for something new to add to your lessons? These tri-folds are a fun and interactive way for students to learn about community helpers! I tried to make these tri-folds as helpful and broad-coverage as possible. It is easy for teachers because it saves paper, helps students focus on specific targets, and covers several areas.

This Tri-fold/Brochure works great as a supplement or in
conjunction with your community helpers unit!
You can use it as a class activity while you are learning about
community helpers, and fill it out all together as you go along. Or
alternatively, you can use it as individual work, or a wrap-up
activity after you have learned about the community helper and
use as re-inforcement of the lesson.
Tri-folds are a fun and convenient way for students to learn
actively. Just print the 2 pages (you will need to be able to do
double-sided printing) and hand out. Students will complete the
tri-fold and then fold at the edges.
You can also use the tri-folds as extra pages in student notebooks as graphic organizer add-ins.
1. What does a (community helper) do? How do they help us?
** Students write 5 things that a (community helper) does or how they help us
2. What kind of person would make a good (community helper)?
** Students write 3 descriptive adjectives or sentences
3. Where does a (community helper) work? Draw a picture.
** Students answer and draw.
4. Is there a librarian at their school? What is their name?
** This is a fun and informative question for students to share and/or get to
know their neighborhoods better.
5. What tools or equipment does a (Community helper) use? What do they wear?
** Student draw a picture and write the word
** Students match the pictures with vocab from the word bank and write the word in the box.
7. If I were a (community helper)...
** Fun section to finish off. Student step into the shoes of the community helper and write what it might be like.
