Community Helpers Unit
This unit was written to develop the Think--Talk--Draw--Writing skills of every child in your class. It's focused on answering the question...What do you want to be when you grow up? Included are performance based tasks centered on Language Arts Common CORE standards, which can be used while doing research and gathering resources to learn about each career. The unit features 12 different community helpers, their work locations, and key details specific to each career choice. Here are the featured community helpers:
It's informative, easy, and FUN for kids to use, while being simple for the teacher to teach with and classroom tested. The student constructed work samples make AWESOME featured work for the classroom bulletins, then their home walls or refrigerators. The finished pages also make COOL kinder keepsakes ...my kids love to give them away as presents!
This Think--Talk--Draw--Write Unit on Community Helpers was created to enhance each student's learning experience with engaging and interactive lesson tools. The unit was designed to be a constructive and collaborative student tool, which displays authentic performance based work while encouraging discussion.
Included in this unit are:
brainstorming tools and graphic organizers (lots of thinking maps)
language art and social studies connections
writing extensions and ready to use templates
finished work sample pages
mix & match career and work place cards
I've also stacked the preview pages with 4 pages in 1 picture, so that you can see a larger sampling of what's included. This unit is ready to be printed and used by students or teachers; or it can be used as a visual guide for instruction.
I hope you and your students enjoy using them, as much as my kids do!
